Anne Fisher Plaque Unveiling and Symposium
Newcastle upon Tyne, 9 and 10 December 2019

You are cordially invited to the unveiling of a Newcastle City Council plaque to commemorate Anne Fisher (1719-1778), a prominent Newcastle author, educationalist, and printer. The plaque will be unveiled by the Lord Mayor at 10am on 9th December at St John’s Church, Grainger Street, followed by refreshments.

To mark this event there will also be a symposium and wine reception at Newcastle's Lit & Phil from 5pm-7.30pm on December 10th. The panel comprises Barbara Crosbie (Durham), Matthew Grenby (Newcastle), Adrian Green (Durham), Helen Williams (Northumbria) and Sarah Collins (Newcastle), and it will cover the architecture, print, and politics of eighteenth-century Newcastle and, of course,  Fisher's role in the city's print and literary culture.

For further details, please see the below posters, or contact Dr Barbara Crosbie (barbara.crosbie @durham.ac.uk), or Dr Ruth Connolly (ruth.connolly@ncl.ac.uk)
